Patient Safety in the Imaging Department: A Practical Review
Patient Safety in the Imaging Department gives the radiologic technologist a working review of the safety responsibilities that belong to the imaging room itself. The course covers patient identification and the situations in which it fails, evaluating an order against the patient it describes, structured handoff communication in both directions, fall prevention on imaging equipment, safe transfers and body mechanics, the management of intravenous lines, drainage tubes, and oxygen during examinations, standard and transmission-based precautions, disinfection of imaging equipment under the Spaulding classification, recognition of early clinical deterioration, and error and near-miss reporting within a just culture.
